::long overdue updates::

sunset at wreck beach
went with mich a couple of weeks' ago to wreck beach (which is located on ubc campus) to enjoy the sunset. the view was simply amazing. i love the fact that i can be so close to nature over here:) we would never be able to get such a good view of mountains and oceans back home. however, wreck beach is not that safe actually. people sell weed at wreck beach at night, homeless people reside in different corners of the beach and it was only recently that a murder occured there! madness. but other than that, it's a nice place to just chill and enjoy the beautiful view..

mich and i sitting on a log, by the beach - awaiting sunset!

i have no idea why there are so many logs lying AND standing around the beaches though?!

beautififul sunset - but i was a bit too slow to capture the sunset on my cam though :(

ice hockey at pacific coliseum - vancouver giants v. spokane chiefs
ice hockey is THE sport in canada. that is we just had to catch at least a game here! and we did:) the ticket was relatively cheap - at CAD$21 - and we got 3rd row seats!! but this was coz vancouver giants is like a second-division team? the pride of vancouver is really the vancouver canucks!! but the cheapest ticket for a canucks game is like around CAD$80? madness. but after the game, we enjoyed it so much that we are now thinking of watching at least 1 canucks game!:) heh.

with mich, abdul and grace. we had a typical fastfood dinner there - whitespot burgers and fries! but they always taste great:)

sometimes the puck would get flung to the spectators' area - thus the need for such warning..

the place where all the action is!!

some tussle going on between the teams - but there's always a referee around to ensure fairplay and of course - prevent fights. there are about 4 referees in the icehockey rink at any one time. madness right? especially considering how small the hockey rink is? frankly i was quite disappointed that there werent any fights during the game. haha. coz i had heard that fights between the players in matches were common and that ice hockey is really mostly about fighting in the hockey rink. it was definitely not so tonight. bah.

the row of vancouver giants players. the players get substituted occur very quickly and frequently. i guess it is to maximize on each player's stamina? ice hockey may not look that strenuous but it sure is!

i didnt know anything about ice hockey so i did read up a bit on the game before the match itself. when a player commits a foul, he gets a penalty in the form of a time-out. this means that he has to sit in the "glass box" (as seen in the photo) for a specific period - which is usually 2mins. this specific period is called "power play", where the opposing team will try to gain advantage and score against the penalized player's team (that is 1-man down).

a team is never complete without its mascot!! "it" made a special appearance during the quarter breaks in between.

enjoying the game!! as seen from above, we had good seats and we could really see the action up close:)

the crowd went hysteria whenever a goal was scored!! the atmosphere was really quite good. considering the fact that this is only a 2nd division game, it makes me wonder how good the atmosphere would be for a canucks game?!

final score - 3-0 to the vancouver giants! hurray!! :)
