halloween is such a big thing in vancouver! it is a 'celebration' that we never get to experience back home. it's such a fun occasion (minus its sinister significance and history - according to gilbert, it is a pagan festival :( )! but it was cool seeing how everyone was so game to dress up for the occasion - the students, teachers, librarians and yes, even the bus-drivers - and this was so, even though it was a school day! haha. with halloween-themed decorations all around, it was difficult NOT to be in the halloween mood!!
how it all started - my pumpkin and my working tools.. oh yes, i chose the smallest pumpkin btw. coz i was gonna carry it all the way back to my rez later. it turned out to be a good move;) heh.
hard at work - ginny, yomomi (ginny's jap housemate) and i trying carve out the top part of our pumpkins! it isnt as easy as it looks, coz we had to concentrate on cutting using the flimsy knives while making sure that the pumpkins didnt roll around as we carved out the top "lid" of the pumpkins!
my star-shaped pumpkin lid. yayy. after this, we had to scrape out all the pumpkin seeds (which was stored and kept - to be roasted as a snack) and all the gooey stuff inside. the interior cavity of the pumpkin needed to be cleared and cleaned - so that we could light candles inside it for the halloween effect. it was quite a messy affair though..

alright!! finally done!! doesnt my pumpkin look scary?! haha.

ginny, myself and ying (a chinese exchange student who lives in japan) - satisfied creators and our scary works!!
