on sunday, i went to church to gilbert, yuriko and joseph. really happy i managed to find a church in vancouver - the university chapel:) the church was a small one but the atmosphere was really heart-warming! everyone was like family! we even sang the birthday song for a lady coincidentally was celebrating her 21st bday that day! but imagine we did that in church? haha. it was holy communion and in singapore, the body of christ was always in the form of biscuits. but over in vancouver, it was an eye-opening experience when the church actually broke a loaf of bread to be distributed to everyone. we each just tore a bit of the bread loaf to eat.
after church, free bbq lunch was provided - to welcome everyone back to school. in vancouver. a bbq meal is essentially - hotdogs or burgers and canned drinks. haha. there were so many orientation bbq lunches in ubc over the past week..
anyway, uncle anthony and aunty liyeng fetched me from church and they brought me out to get all my groceries. it was really nice of them to offer to help me settle in and i really appreciated it! yup we lunched at this nice chinese cafe - Hon's. finally some decent chinese food! i was very satisfied:) the portion was so huge that i packed the remainder of my food back home for dinner. oh yes..the caucasians call hon's the chinese macs. haha. coz the service and the food comes so fast, it's almost like a fast food chain! heh
me and aunty liyeng - in vancouver's chinatown! what a familiar sight!
